What is PrEP?

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a pill that minimizes the possibility of HIV infection in people who are HIV-negative. PrEP is one of the most powerful tools to fight against HIV / AIDS. After performing a thorough diagnosis, Dr. Lacson will advise you if PrEP is the right medication for you. If used daily, PrEP can decrease the risk of HIV infection by 92-99%.

An Affordable Solution to Avoid Contracting HIV

PrEP is recommended for those who are HIV-negative but are at high risk of contracting the virus. According to statistics, youth aged 13-24 years make up about 1 in 5 of all new HIV diagnoses. About 1 in 2 black men who have sex with men (MSM), and about 1 in 48 black women are likely to be diagnosed with HIV during their life.

Statistics show that about 74% of those who are on PrEP are white, while 10% are black, even though they are at more risk.

PrEP is affordable and is usually covered by most major insurance and may have no out-of-pocket expenses. If you are uninsured, we can apply for drug assistance to see if you qualify for a prescription at no cost.
